Rail News: Railroading People
Last week, CSX Transportation named Dean Piacente vice president-chemicals and fertilizer to succeed Glenn Katz, who recently resigned. Responsible for sales and marketing within the railroad's chemicals, and phosphate and fertilizer groups, Piacente will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Clarence Gooden.
Piacente most recently served as president and managing director of CSX Corp. subsidiary TRANSFLO Corp. He previously served CSXT in a number of sales and marketing positions, including director of minerals sales and marketing, assistant vice president-minerals and chemicals, and AVP-market pricing and yield management.
"With [Piacente's] prior experience, I am confident that the company will see continued volume and revenue growth, and enhanced customer satisfaction," said Gooden in a prepared statement.
To succeed Piacente, CSXT named Glen Soliah president of TRANSFLO. He most recently served the subsidiary as director of operations and chief operating officer.
In 1996, Soliah joined CSX Technology, serving in various finance and operations roles within TRANSFLO. He previously served the Hamilton Group as vice president of finance, and Johnson & Johnson in various capacities.
"[Soliah] has a strong understanding of bulk transloading operations coupled with keen insights in running a business that will help TRANSFLO become financially stronger and even more successful in the future," said Gooden.
