Rail News: Railroading People
Yesterday, Pioneer Railcorp named Chief Financial Officer J. Michael Carr president. Reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Guy Brenkman, he will be responsible for the company's daily railroad operations. All senior managers now will report to Carr, who will continue to serve as CFO.
Former Chief Operating Officer and Vice President-Corporate Development Allen Brown — who resigned from the short-line holding company late last year — previously managed rail operations. During the past few months, Brenkman had assumed the duties.
"Pioneer has grown to the point that it is difficult for one person to manage and control all aspects of the operation," said Brenkman in a prepared statement. "By delegating the daily operations to Mike, I can concentrate my efforts on growing the overall company."
Pioneer Railcorp owns and operates 16 short lines — comprising more than 460 track miles — in 10 states.
