Pittsburgh port authority extends CEO Bland's contract

The Port Authority of Allegheny County, Pa., has extended Chief Executive Officer Steve Bland’s contract through June 11, 2014. The new contract includes an option to extend the contract another two years.

At Bland’s request, the contract stipulates that he will not be eligible for a salary increase until June 2013, and that any increase would be capped at 2.5 percent of his base annual salary, currently $185,000, port authority officials said in a prepared statement.

Bland joined the port authority as CEO in 2006. He voluntarily relinquished salary increases and benefits, as other non-represented employees have given up benefits and accepted a pay freeze during an era of cost-cutting, port authority officials said.
