Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) recently announced Chief Planning Officer James de la Loza has resigned.

He will join engineering consulting firm Camp, Dresser & McKee Inc. as vice president of transportation in the Los Angeles office.

De la Loza joined LA MTA in 1991 as senior project manager for a light-rail line in the Exposition corridor. Two years later, he was named director of planning for the central area. In 1995, de la Loza was appointed deputy executive officer for planning; a year later, he was promoted to executive officer for planning.

During his 14-year LA MTA career, de la Loza helped manage thousands of projects, including the Metro Gold Line and Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which currently is under construction.
