Railroad Development Corp. (RDC) has named Nate Asplund the company’s new executive vice president.

Asplund, who will begin his new role March 1, will lead business development among RDC’s worldwide holdings, RDC officials said in a press release.

Previously, he was the partner and president of Columbia Strategic Consulting Group in Fort Worth, Texas, where he handled project support and advocacy for freight rail and logistics, transportation public affairs and tribal and First Nation relations. He co-founded the Columbia Group.

Since 1988, Asplund has worked in various disciplines within the transportation and logistics industries, including stints with BNSF Railway Co., Red River Valley & Western Railroad (where he was president and CEO) and Florida East Coast Railway (where he was CEO). He also recently served as chairman of the Railroad-Shipper Transportation Advisory Council, which advises the Surface Transportation Board.

RDC  is a family owned railway investment and management company based in Pittsburgh. Its business model is based on partnerships, including interests in Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd.
