The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) late last week announced President Mike O’Malley will depart the organization July 31.

RSI’s leader since early 2018, he is pursuing an opportunity with a corporation outside of Washington, D.C., where the association is headquartered.

“Mike’s experience in both government and the rail industry has served RSI well and we have accomplished a great deal during his tenure,” said RSI Chairman Jason Connell in a press release. “Under his leadership, RSI and our members have shaped critical legislative and regulatory policies affecting our industry and strengthened our voice in the nation’s capitol.”

O’Malley also helped enhance the association’s trade show, educational and committee programs, and assisted members in addressing the current challenging times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.

“RSI appreciates Mike’s service to the organization and the industry, and wishes Mike the best in his new endeavors,” said Connell.

RSI’s board has assigned daily oversight responsibilities to Senior Vice President Nicole Brewin, who has served the association for nearly 20 years. The board also is evaluating a range of strategic and personnel opportunities presented by the leadership vacancy.

“Thanks to the continuing support of its dedicated members, the organization remains healthy and financially stable,” said Connell. “[We are] well positioned to navigate the current situation and emerge a stronger association.”
