Rail News: Railroading People
On March 4, RailAmerica Inc. named Thomas Owen senior vice president of marketing and sales-North American Rail Group. He will be responsible for directing marketing and sales strategies, and evaluating RailAmerica's acquisition program.
Owen most recently served as VP of marketing and sales-Central Corridor. He joined RailAmerica in September 2001 after serving CSX Transportation and its predecessor railroads for 16 years in a variety of positions, including assistant VP of sales and marketing-agricultural products. Owen was CSXT's first participant in a one-year international executive exchange program under which he served as commercial manager for the United Kingdom's British Steel.
"Tom's railroad experience, along with an impressive management background and strategic marketing skills, will provide our sales and marketing team with a strong leader to drive growth and service," said RailAmerica Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Marino in a prepared statement.
Owen succeeds Al Sauer, who last month joined OmniTRAX Inc. as executive VP of marketing and strategic planning.
