The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) announced yesterday that Eric Harvey will become president and CEO on Feb. 3. He will succeed Marc Brazeau, who is leaving the organization after seven years on the job.
Harvey brings an impressive depth of knowledge and keen understanding of the rail industry and federal government to the role, RAC Chair Janet Drysdale said in a press release.
"As we enter a period of transition both in Canada and abroad, RAC will play a critical role in advocating for rail as an important economic asset through the safe and sustainable transportation of goods and people. With his background in both the private and public sectors, Eric is the right person to assume the leadership of RAC and represent the Canadian rail industry," said Drysdale.
Harvey has more than 25 years of experience in legal and regulatory transportation. Most recently, he was an assistant general counsel on policy and legislative affairs at CN.
RAC represents nearly 60 railway companies and over 60 associate members that support the rail industry.
