Rio Grande Pacific installs Bach as president

Last month, Rio Grande Pacific Corp. named Robert Bach president of the holding company.

A long time partner at Minneapolis law firm Felhaber Larson Fenlon and Vogt, Bach has more than 30 years of law experience. His areas of expertise include civil litigation pertaining to railroad law, FELA claims, intellectual property, and commercial and employment law.

A certified trial specialist, Bach will combine his rail-related law experience with “corporate sensibilities” to guide growth opportunities for the company, Rio Grande Pacific officials said in a prepared statement.

“Bob Bach has been an invaluable resource in his long tenure as legal counsel for us,” said Rio Grande Pacific Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Bertel. “He has also demonstrated a firm grasp of the strategic initiatives we have in place, as we move forward.”

Founded in 1986, Rio Grande Pacific owns the Idaho Northern and Pacific Railroad; Nebraska Central Railroad; New Orleans and Gulf Coast Railroad; Thunder Mountain Line; and Wichita, Tillman and Jackson Railway Co., which operate in six states. The company also retains holdings in commercial real estate, energy and technology.
