The South West Transit Association (SWTA) has elected Fort Worth Transportation Authority President and Executive Director Dick Ruddell as president.
Ruddell won an election in February at the association’s annual meeting in Denver, SWTA officials said in a prepared statement. The largest regional transit association in the United States, SWTA represents transit agencies, state transit associations and transit businesses in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Ruddell also serves on the board of the American Public Transportation Association and serves as vice president for metro agencies on the Texas Transit Association board.
“With continued population growth and economic development in southwestern United States, it is essential to expand this region’s public transportation options,” Ruddell said.
