The Regional Council of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) last week approved the appointment of Kome Ajise as executive director.
The 30-year veteran of regional planning and transportation will assume the role on an interim basis pending the formal contract approval process.
Ajise has served as SCAG planning director since November 2017. Prior to joining SCAG, Ajise served as chief deputy director at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Previously, he was Caltrans deputy director of planning responsible for overseeing the rail, mass transportation and transportation planning divisions.
“Kome is a seasoned leader who understands the complex challenges we face in Southern California and throughout the state," said SCAG President Alan Wapner in a press release.
