The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) announced Pamela Sarne McCormick will become director of legislative affairs on Dec. 29.

McCormick is a public policy and government relations professional who has long served as the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's Harrisburg representative, SEPTA officials said in a press release. She has been an "active and respected voice" in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania fore more than 20 years, they said.

During her years at the chamber, McCormick worked with business, political, labor and community leaders to advance the region's public policy and economic development projects. Prior to joining the chamber, she served as a legislative aid in the Pennsylvania State Senate and a marketing consultant at First Pennsylvania Bank.

Meanwhile, the Florida Transportation Commission is accepting applications for the state's secretary of transportation until Dec. 15, state officials announced earlier this week.

The commission is tasked with recommending three candidates to Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who will appoint a successor to Ananth Prasad. Earlier this month, Prasad submitted his resignation and his last day on the job will be Jan. 2.

The secretary will lead and manage the Florida Department of Transportation, an agency with more than 6,500 employees and an annual budget of $10.2 billion.
