Rail News: Railroading People
Yesterday, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) announced it appointed Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Joseph Casey as general manager. He will succeed Faye Moore, who will retire when her contract expires on Feb. 15, 2008.
Casey, 51, began his career at Conrail and joined SEPTA in 1982. In addition to his finance responsibilities, he oversees all of the authority’s transportation scheduling, route planning, long-range planning, marketing and operational analysis activities.
During Moore’s five-year tenure as GM, SEPTA achieved its highest ridership level in 20 years, significantly improved on-time performance, implemented new customer service initiatives and began large-scale capital projects, SEPTA says.
