The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has named Richard Chess director of finance. He will begin his new duties on July 21, agency officials announced yesterday.Chess has "extensive" governmental accounting and management experience, they said in a press release. Prior to joining SFRTA, he was director of finance and accounting for College Park, Ga.; served as accounting and tax audit director for Scottsdale, Ariz.; and held such positions as accounting manager for Reno, Nev., and Daytona Beach, Fla. Chess also served stints as auditor for Florida's Office of the Auditor General and Florida Department of Education, and as accounting supervisor for the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority.Additionally, his work history includes nearly 10 years on Wall Street, working with regional, national and multinational public accounting firms.
