Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway Co. recently appointed John Schultz vice president of transportation to succeed John Scott, who resigned.

Most recently director of transportation services for Union Pacific Railroad, Schultz has more than 30 years’ railroading experience. He previously served UP and predecessor Missouri Pacific Railroad as assistant trainmaster, trainmaster, manager of yard and industry operations, and manager of transportation planning.

“[Schultz’s] strong operating background and valuable experience will help MMA provide reliable and efficient transportation service,” said MMA President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Grindrod in a prepared statement.

The 745-mile MMA — which launched operations in January 2003 — operates lines in Maine, Vermont, New Brunswick and Quebec.
