The U.S. Senate late last week confirmed the nominations of Victor Mendez as deputy secretary of transportation and Peter Rogoff as under secretary of transportation for policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).

Mendez is the former administrator of the Federal Highway Administration, former president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and former director of the Arizona Department of Transportation. He has been serving as acting deputy secretary since Jan. 1, after John Porcari departed to join infrastructure consulting and engineering firm Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Rogoff is the former administrator of the Federal Transit Administration. He was named interim USDOT under secretary of policy in January after Polly Trottenberg left the agency to head the New York City Department of Transportation.
