Sierra Northern promotes MacDonald to VP

Sierra Northern Railway recently promoted Brenton MacDonald from general manager to vice president and chief operating officer.
In the new position, MacDonald will be responsible for working with the railroad’s customers; engaging in new business development and contract negotiations; working with senior leadership at Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway Co.; overseeing railroad operations for the West Sacramento, Oakdale, Concord, and Ventura divisions; and aiding in maintenance and construction activities. He will report to Sierra Northern Railway CEO Kennan Beard.
Since joining the California short line in 2013, MacDonald has held positions including manager of safety and training, conductor and engineer. He previously worked for UP as manager of locomotive maintenance in Hinkle, Oregon.
