Smith appointed director of California State Railroad Museum

The California Department of Parks and Recreation has named Ty Smith director of the California State Railroad Museum, effective April 1.

He will manage the museum, as well as the Sacramento Southern Railroad, Old Sacramento State Historic Park and Southern Pacific Shops.

"Ty's visionary leadership will help guide these prized rail units forward at a very exciting time for Sacramento," said Matthew Bellah, superintendent for the Capital District in a press release.

Smith has held various roles at the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

The California State Railroad Museum hosts more than 600,000 visitors each year.
