Smith succeeds Snyder as CSXT's VP of network ops; Gardner succeeds Yocum as MMA's VP and CFO

CSX Transportation recently named Mike Smith vice president of network operations to succeed Jim Snyder, who will retire Aug. 1.
Most recently assistant VP of crew management, Smith will be responsible for network functions; train dispatching; coal, bulk and locomotive operations; and crew management. He will report to VP and Chief Transportation Officer David Brown.
Since joining CSX predecessor the Chessie System in 1973 as an operator, Smith served stints as dispatcher, general manager of network operations and assistant division manager-Jacksonville Division.
Meanwhile, Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway Inc. (MMA) appointed Donald Gardner Jr. VP of finance and administration, and chief financial officer to succeed Fred Yocum Jr., who retired after a 40-year railroading career.
Gardner most recently was CFO for Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc. Previous positions include stints as VP of operations and CFO for Kazmaier Associates and S/R Industries Inc., a principal at Gardner Associates and chief operating officer at Genalco Inc.
MMA operates lines totaling 754 route miles in Maine, Vermont, New Brunswick and Quebec.
