Sound Transit Deputy Chief Executive Officer Celia Kupersmith will retire on Aug. 3, Sound Transit CEO Joni Earl announced Friday.
Prior to joining Sound Transit in 2010, Kupersmith was general manager and CEO of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District for 11 years. She also has served as executive director of the Regional Transportation Commission in Reno, Nev.
Kupersmith’s leadership and operations experience “helped improve our efficiency and the quality of our service,” Earl said in a prepared statement. “She also improved our budget process, served as a mentor to senior management and led the agency with a strong, steady hand during my unexpected medical leave of absence last year.”
Kupersmith said she decided to retire in order to move closer to her family.
