Sound Transit last week announced Suraj Shetty has joined the Seattle agency as executive director of operations.
Shetty will oversee transportation and maintenance; facilities and system maintenance; operations assets and technology; and operations support services. He will play a critical role as Sound Transit more than doubles the reach of its Link light-rail service by 2024, agency officials said in a press release.
Shetty has 20 years of experience in strategic operations. He has held manufacturing and supply chain leadership roles in the automotive, construction equipment and consumer goods industries. Most recently, Shetty was vice president of supply chain for PMI Worldwide.
"Suraj has achieved remarkable success in helping organizations increase operating and financial efficiency," said Sound Transit Deputy Chief Executive Officer Kimberly Farley.
Shetty replaces Paul Denison, who held the position on an interim basis.
