Staten Island Railway names Connett VP, chief officer
MTA Staten Island Railway appointed Douglas Connett vice president and chief officer late last week, according to the Staten Island Advance.
In the new role, Connett will oversee the railroad's day-to-day operations. He started his career with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in 1985, when he was hired on as a track worker.
"Doug has a hands-on approach and enjoys teaching those around him while instilling the vision of providing safe and reliable mass transportation service," wrote Joseph Leader, senior VP of the Department of Subways, in a memo obtained by the newspaper.
Meanwhile, the New York State Senate earlier this week confirmed Thomas Prendergast for an additional term as chief executive officer of MTA, according to The New York Times. He first assumed the role in June 2013.
