TexAmericas Center names Thompson GM of rail, transload operations

TexAmericas Center (TAC) has hired railroad industry veteran Darrell Thompson as general manager of railroad and transload operations.
Thompson has worked in the transportation industry for more than 30 years, first starting in rail yards after high school. He has experience in operations, safety management, contract negotiations, problem solving, revenue forecasting and project management, TAC officials said in a press release.
Based in Texarkana, Texas, the company owns and operates one of the largest mixed-use industrial parks in the United States. Earlier this year, TAC was awarded an $864,550 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to construct new rail facilities and refurbish those in use.
TAC created the position that Thompson will hold to further expand offerings for railroad and transload operations.
“Adding this new position at TexAmericas Center is a first step toward long-term growth potential for rail,” said Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Scott Norton. “Darrell knows every aspect of the rail and transload industry."
