The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) has promoted Jana Toran from director of legal services to general counsel.

Toran will lead TriMet’s in-house litigation team of attorneys in the areas of tort, contract, property, intellectual property, employment and labor law. She succeeds M. Brian Playfair, who retired but will continue to work on special projects for TriMet.

Toran has served the agency the past 10 years. She previously was a sole legal practitioner.

TriMet also promoted Kim Sewell to succeed Toran as leader of the litigation department. Sewell has been a litigator for TriMet the past nine years.
