TranSystems Corp. recently named Hugh Hopkins business leader for the freight-rail carrier sector.

He will responsible for expanding current markets and helping the firm find new transportation opportunities, as well as enhance the firm’s eastern U.S. rail operation for clients such as CXT Transportation, Florida East Coast Railway and short lines.

With 34 years’ experience in the rail industry, Hopkins previously served CSXT in various engineering positions, most recently as chief engineer, maintenance of way. Prior to that, he worked in the engineering department of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Co.
