Amy Anderson has become Trinity Metro TEXRail's first female engineer.

Trinity Metro TEXRail hired Anderson as a conductor in 2019, and she later completed 220 hours of training to qualify as an engineer, agency officials said in a press release.

Anderson said she made it her goal to become the agency’s first female engineer once she realized Trinity Metro didn't have any women serving in the role.

“Every train has two crew members: the conductor and the engineer. The two work as a checks-and-balances system. As an engineer, you are typically the more seasoned of the crew members,” she said.

"We are so proud of Amy for taking the initiative to pursue her dream of becoming our first female engineer,” said Jon-Erik Arjanen, vice president and chief operating officer for rail at Trinity Metro. “She’s a trendsetter for our industry."
