Fortress Investment Group L.L.C. properties RailAmerica Inc. and Florida East Coast Railway L.L.C. (FECR) recently appointed two executives. FECR named Steve Truitt vice president and RailAmerica named Reginald Thompson VP of industrial development.

A 26-year rail industry veteran, Truitt will oversee FECR's transportation, mechanical, engineering and intermodal operations. Most recently superintendent of Union Pacific Railroad's Wichita Service Unit, he previously was a general manager, terminal superintendent, senior trainmaster and trackman.

Thompson, who has more than 28 years' experience in railroad marketing and business development, also will serve FECR in a similar industrial development capacity. He most recently was FECR's VP of carload marketing and sales. Thompson previously held various marketing positions at Kansas City Southern and the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co.

Fortress Investment Group is seeking Surface Transportation Board approval to merge FECR and RailAmerica, which owns and operates 41 U.S. and Canadian regionals and short lines. The company expects to relocate RailAmerica's headquarters from Boca Raton to Jacksonville, Fla., where FECR maintains offices.
