Twin Cities & Western Railroad Co. (TC&W) yesterday announced the promotion of Victor Meyers to president. Meyers will continue to serve as president of sister company Red River Valley & Western Railroad Co. (RRVW), a position he has held since 2018.

Mark Wegner, who had been serving as president and CEO for both railroads, will continue serving as CEO, company officials said in a press release.

As president of both short lines, Meyers will oversee strategy and day-to-day operations. He represents the fourth generation of his family to have a career in railroading.

"This is a very well-deserved promotion for Vic," said Martha Head, chair of the company's board. "Not only is he a national leader in rail safety, but he is also well trained in the economics of the railroad industry and brings extraordinary personal values into the workplace, which has enabled us to attract high-quality people to the team."

Meyers joined TC&W in 2013. Prior to that, he worked for more than seven years at BNSF Railway Co. in a variety of positions. In 2018, Progressive Railroading named Meyers a "Rising Star" in the railroad industry.

Wegner led the company's modernization and expansion of short-line operations in Minnesota and South Dakota, according to Head. Wegner also is president of the Minnesota Regional Railroads Association.

"I am delighted that [he] will remain on board to focus on key areas he has excelled in over the years, such as railroad development and industry relations," Head said.

Based in Glencoe, Minnesota, TC&W operates 360 miles of track serving a variety of industries and agricultural customers in Minnesota and South Dakota. Headquartered in Wahpeton, North Dakota, RRVW operates 500 miles of track primarily in southeast North Dakota and as far north as Maddock, North Dakota.s
