Rail News: Railroading People
Last week, Union Pacific Railroad named Chris Peterson director of government affairs. Reporting to Senior Assistant Vice President of Government Affairs Joe Bateman, Peterson will be responsible for government relations in Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
He will work directly with governors and their administrations, state legislators, local officials, and regional authorities and associations that hold a vested interest in rail traffic.
Peterson most recently served as executive director of the Nebraska Republican Party. He previously served Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns as assistant for media relations and deputy chief of staff, and managed then-Nebraska Sen. Dave Maurstad's successful primary campaign and served as his legislative aide.
