Union Pacific Railroad recently promoted Tom Florence to general superintendent-transportation services of the Los Angeles Service Unit to succeed Oliver Cromwell, who left the railroad. UP also promoted Andy Yedlick to superintendent-transportation services of the El Paso Service Unit to succeed Florence.

Florence will be responsible for managing a more than 1,200-mile system in southern California and southern New Mexico over which 88 trains travel daily. Since joining the Southern Pacific Railroad — which merged with UP — in 1993, he has held various operating positions. Florence previously served the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and CSX Transportation in a number of operations and mechanical positions.

Most recently transportation superintendent, Yedlick will be responsible for managing a more than 800-mile system in western Texas, and central and southern New Mexico over which 46 trains travel daily. He previously held various operating positions with UP and the Chicago & North Western Railway.
