Yesterday, Union Pacific Railroad named Joe Bearden general manager-trackage rights; Jeff Jones, general superintendent-transportation services of the Fort Worth Service Unit to succeed Bearden; Rich Castagna, superintendent of the Salt Lake City Service Unit to succeed Jones; and Jeff Moore, superintendent-transportation services in Pocatello, Idaho, to succeed Castagna.

Since joining Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1979, Bearden has held various engineering and operating positions, including assistant roadmaster, trainmaster, director-train management and superintendent-transportation services.

Jones, who began his railroading career in 1971 at the Missouri Pacific Railroad, has held various operating positions, including engineer, manager-operating practices, senior manager-terminal operations and director-road operations.

In 1993, Castagna began his railroading career with the Chicago & North Western as a switchman. He later held several operating positions with the railroad and UP.

Finally, Moore —who joined UP in 1984 — has held various operating positions, most recently director-transportation services in Los Angeles.
