Union Pacific Railroad recently promoted Kurt Zalar from director of intermodal terminal operations to superintendent of transportation services-Wichita Service Unit to succeed Steve Truitt, who resigned.

Zalar will be responsible for a unit comprising more than 1,100 miles of track in southeast Kansas, central and eastern Oklahoma, and west-central Arkansas.

Since joining UP in 1994 as a track repair worker, he has held various engineering department and operating positions, and served as a train dispatcher and corridor manager.
