URS Corp. recently named Howard Sacket vice president and director of transit programs. He will be responsible for developing and overseeing the company’s mass transit business.

With more than 33 years’ experience with transit projects — including conceptual planning, design, construction and startup — Sacket specializes in program and project management for major mass transportation projects.

He most recently served as an independent consultant for New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), where he was senior adviser to the president of MTA Capital Construction, a company set up to implement MTA’s multi-billion-dollar expansion projects.

Between 1999 and April 2004, Sacket served as deputy program executive for MTA’s $6.3 billion East Side Access project.
