Union Pacific Railroad yesterday announced Brian Barr will join the company April 15 as senior vice president of transportation.
He will oversee UP's transportation operations and report to Executive VP of Operations Eric Gehringer.
Barr is a "seasoned railroad executive" with more than 25 years of experience at CSX, where he most recently served as SVP of network planning and services, UP officials said in a press release.
During Barr's tenure at CSX, he served in multiple roles, including SVP of operations North, SVP of engineering and mechanical, and president of mechanical. He also has field experience having served as division manager and plant manager.
"Brian is a deeply experienced and lifelong railroader with a proven track record of improving network operations and workforce productivity and has fostered important customer relationships," said UP Chairman, President and CEO Lance Fritz. "Brian’s addition to Union Pacific bolsters our broad, talented team of operators as we continue our [precision scheduled railroading] journey to deliver consistent, reliable and safe service to our customers while driving long-term sustainable growth."
