Yesterday, Union Pacific Railroad announced three appointments in the operating department that will take effect Oct. 1. The Class I named Joe Santamaria vice president of engineering; Randy Blackburn, VP of transportation to succeed Santamaria; and David Connell, regional VP-northern region to succeed Blackburn.
Santamaria previously was a regional vice president and chief mechanical officer, while Blackburn previously was VP and general manager of intermodal, and VP of premium operations. Connell currently serves as VP of engineering.
"The experience and perspectives Joe, Randy and David bring to their new assignments will be invaluable, strengthening our organizational capabilities and creating a stronger Union Pacific," said Executive VP of Operations Lance Fritz in a prepared statement.
