The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) board recently elected new top officers and added several members.

The board chose Larry Ellertson to be president and Gregory Simonsen, VP. Ellertson currently serves as VP of United Way of Utah County, and Simonsen is a senior partner at law firm Rinehart & Fetzer and general counsel for Spackman Enterprises.

Meanwhile, state lawmakers recently expanded UTA's board from 15 to 19 members by mandating voting members be appointed by the Utah Department of Transportation, governor, and state House and Senate.

The authority recently swore in governor appointee Chris Bleak, who's chief of staff of the Utah House, and Senate appointee Justin Allen, who's director of local government affairs for the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. Kent Millington, who had been serving as an ex-officio board member representing the Utah Transportation Commission, now will become a full voting member.

Finally, UTA's board elected Davis County Commissioner Bret Millburn and Layton Mayor Stephen Curtis as new members.
