VIA Rail fires chairman
advertisement
Transport Canada recently announced it terminated VIA Rail Canada Inc. chairman Jean Pelletier — for the second time. The agency previously fired him in 2004, but a federal court overturned the decision in November 2005.
Pelletier will not be compensated because he’s initiated legal proceedings in the Quebec Superior Court to recover salary, benefits and damages, according to the agency.
Don Pettit will serve as acting chairman until Transport Canada appoints a permanent replacement.
