Valley Metro board to combine top administrative posts

The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority’s (RPTA) board last week identified current Valley Metro Light Rail Chief Executive Officer Stephen Banta as the leading candidate for a new joint executive director/CEO for RPTA and Valley Metro Light Rail, agency officials said in a prepared statement.
The decision was part of the board’s efforts to name a successor for Valley Metro RPTA Executive Director David Boggs, who plans to retire on Dec. 31.
An independent legal firm will negotiate with Banta to draft an employment agreement, agency officials said. The RPTA and Valley Metro boards plan to meet in November to continue discussions about the combined post and potentially approve the employment agreement.
