Two former transit-industry CEOs recently formed KL Executive Search L.L.C., a firm that'll specialize in the placement of management and technical personnel in the public transportation industry.

"K" is Tony Kouneski, who's held management positions at the Maryland Transit Administration and Minneapolis/St. Paul's Metropolitan Transit Commission, and served as general manager of transit systems in Tucson, Ariz., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Austin, Texas. "L" is Jack Leary, whose 38 years of transit-industry management experience includes stints as GM of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and CEO of the Bi-State Development Agency in St. Louis. He also spent 20-plus years in various management positions at the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority.

KL Executive Search will operate offices in Massachusetts and Maryland.
