The Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) recently appointed three executives.
The agency named Gerald Francis deputy general manager to serve under new GM John Catoe Jr. With 28 years of transit and freight-rail experience, Francis most recently served as GM of rail operations for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The authority also named Sara Wilson chief of staff to succeed Emeka Moneme, who resigned to become director of transportation for the District of Columbia. With more than 15 years’ transportation, public policy and project management experience, Wilson joined WMATA in 2002.
Finally, WMATA named Suzanne Peck chief information office to succeed Roderick Burfield, who is retiring later this month. Peck most recently served as chief technology officer for the District of Columbia.
Meanwhile, Chief Operating Officer for Community Transportation Services Steven Yaffe and Assistant General Manager, Planning and Information Technology Edward Thomas resigned. The authority named Christian Kent acting COO for community transportation services and Nat Bottingheimer, acting assistant GM of planning and joint development.
