Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently appointed two board members.

Gordon Linton will represent Montgomery County, Md. He currently serves as senior advisor and vice president of business development for WageWorks Inc., a commuter benefits program provider.

While serving as Federal Transit Administrator under the Clinton Administration, Linton helped advance and execute transportation and other public policies at the local, state and national level. He also helped create the Federal Transit Authorization Act of 1998, which authorized $41 billion in transit system investment throughout the country. He also lobbied Congress to increase the tax benefit for public transportation and launched the "Livable Communities Initiative," designed to strengthen the link between transit services and communities.

Charles Deegan will represent Prince George County, Md. A county employee for 33 years, he currently serves as chief of the equipment maintenance division in the Department of Public Works and Transportation.
