Watco makes management changes

Watco Cos. L.L.C. recently announced that Brian Simpson has taken on additional responsibilities as general manager of the Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad (PCC). He currently is GM of the Great Northwest Railroad (GRNW).

Simpson has 12 years of railroading experience. Prior to joining Watco last year, he was manager of terminal operations for Union Pacific Railroad.

Watco also appointed Stacy Grant assistant GM of the PCC and GRNW. Grant, who joined Watco in 2004, most recently was the trainmaster for GRNW and previously was conductor the PCC.

In addition, Watco announced that Troy Forbis resumed his duties as GM of the Timber Rock Railroad after a leave of absence. Prior to joining Watco in 2008, he served as a trainmaster and engineer for the San Joaquin Valley Railroad, and vice president of operations for the McCloud Railway Co.

In other personnel moves, Watco named Keith Barksdale director of operations for the Gulf Region and Ed Diemert, GM of a Watco Transload and Intermodal Services transload facility in St. Louis.

Barksdale most recently was assistant chief operating officer for the Gulf Region and previously served as general manager of Watco’s Timber Rock Railroad. Prior to joining Watco, he held various positions at RailAmerica Inc.

Diemert previously served Kenworth the past four years in various capacities, including truck sales. He has 20 years of trucking industry experience.
