The Western Carolina Railway Service Corp. (WCRS) has hired Dolly Durham as director of community engagement.

Durham has more than 25 years of nonprofit development experience, including in community involvement, event planning, grant writing and management of benevolent giving, according to a WCRS press release.

In her new role, she will focus on expanding community involvement with WCRS subsidiary Greenville & Western Railway Co.'s annual Santa Express; long-range planning and fundraising for the restoration and preservation of the Letchworth Properties' Historic Greer Depot; the development of a partnership between Letchworth and an existing nonprofit historical organization; and development of a future nonprofit entity that will manage public use of the former Piedmont & Northern Railway freight and passenger depot in Greer, South Carolina.

Based in South Carolina, WCRS works to preserve, restore and revitalize rail service in the Carolinas.
