Wabtec Corp. has signed contracts worth $45 million to provide equipment and services for Metra's positive train control (PTC) system.

The contracts are with Metra and Parsons Transportation Group, Wabtec officials said in a press release.

Under the agreements, Wabtec will provide interoperable electronic train management system (I-ETMS®) equipment, including kits and replacement components. In addition, the company will provide its TMDS® Back Office System, along with track data, training and related services, Wabtec officials said.

"We have worked with Metra for several years to develop and design their PTC program, and we are pleased to help in its implementation," said Wabtec President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond Betler. "Wabtec continues to demonstrate a unique and industry-leading ability to assist customers in meeting their PTC requirements."

In early September, Metra tapped Parsons to install PTC on its trains.
