The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) awarded Ansaldo STS a $338 million contract to provide a complete positive train control (PTC) system throughout the agency's commuter-rail network.

Ansaldo's scope of work will include design, integration, delivery of materials, onboard and field installation, testing, commissioning, technical support and system documentation, company officials said in a press release.

The company will integrate ACSES II and I-ETMS systems on all of MBTA's commuter-rail lines.

"This newly awarded project represents an additional stepping stone for Ansaldo STS in becoming a recognized rail technology system integrator in North America," Ansaldo officials said.
