The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has added Tech Mahindra to its list of curated providers available to assist member railroads with complying with positive train control (PTC) requirements.Tech Mahindra will provide an online learning platform that features multiple modules of interactive training, as well as assessment and evaluation, ASLRRA and Tech Mahindra announced today in a joint press release.The online learning platform is available by subscription.Tech Mahindra joins a select group of PTC vendors that offer services specifically for short lines and regionals to meet federal PTC implementation requirements."The implementation of PTC is a complex and costly project for the U.S. rail industry, including dozens of short-line railroads," said ASLRRA President Chuck Baker. "These small businesses have a complicated role to play, integrating with multiple Class I systems, and are challenged to implement with limited technical expertise and support."ASLRRA's PTC vendor offering to members is made possible through a $2.5 million grant awarded by the Federal Railroad Administration to assist smaller railroads in meeting PTC deadlines.To learn how Class Is are pressing ahead to meet the federal PTC mandate, read this feature in the October issue of Progressive Railroading.
