CSX Technology and software provider Embarcadero Systems Corp. recently installed a VinTelligent™ system at a vehicle-distribution center operated by CSX Transportation.
Web-based VinTelligent is designed to manage and track automobile and heavy-vehicle moves in near real-time to improve transit speed, reduce delays and handling, and optimize resources, such as personnel and yards.
"VinTelligent has allowed us to improve our auto operations and reduce our overall technology costs," said John West, CSX Technology vice president of application development, in a prepared statement. "This is important because one out of every three vehicles produced in the United States is currently delivered by CSXT."
CSX Technology and Embarcadero Systems plan to phase-in VinTelligent systems at a total of 20 vehicle-distribution centers and 10 other CSXT facilities by mid-2004.
