CN and the Halifax Port Authority (HPA) yesterday announced they jointly obtained new representation in India per an agreement that took effect March 1.

The Class I and authority hired Crest Container Lines to work in India to promote the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and CN’s rail network as a gateway into North America. Based in Mumbai, Crest Container Lines has nine branch offices in India.

“[We are] pleased to continue to work closely with the Port of Halifax to pursue cargo growth opportunities in the Indian Subcontinent," said Keith Reardon, CN's vice president of intermodal services, in a press release. "Through this partnership, we hope to improve the effectiveness of our customers' supply chains and in turn draw more business through the port and CN's North American rail network."

Crest Container Lines President and Chief Executive Officer Fouze Farrhan has more than two decades of shipping and freight experience in the Indian Subcontinent and North American market.

"Fouze’s experience combined with the expanding Crest network will be an excellent partnership to grow the flow of cargo between the Indian Subcontinent and North America," said George Malec, HPA's VP of business development and operations.
