7/3/2023

Henry Wolf has retired, ending his nine-year stint as Norfolk Southern Corp.’s top financial officer and vice chairman. But the railroad didn’t have to look far to find his successor.

Yesterday, the Class I announced Executive Vice President of Finance James Squires has assumed the additional title of CFO.

After joining NS in 1973, Wolf served as a senior tax attorney, VP of taxation, EVP of finance, and vice chairman and CFO. Now, he plans to continue residing in Virginia’s Hampton Roads area, where he helps support educational and cultural institutions.

Since joining NS in 1992, Squires has served as senior VP of law and SVP of financial planning. He was named EVP of finance in March 2007.

NS also announced Harold Pote, who served on the railroad’s board from 1988 to 2006, died last week. He was 60. Pote was chief executive officer of American Financial Realty Trust.
