The Association of North American Railroad Police Chiefs recently selected Norfolk Southern Police Supervisory Special Agent C. N. "Curt" Stanley to represent the nation's railroad police as a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington, D.C., according to Norfolk Southern Corp.'s monthly newsletter released Sept. 4.
The FBI formed the task force after Sept. 11, 2001, to coordinate and monitor intelligence-gathering activities to support national security. Task force members include full-time professional law-enforcement and intelligence specialists from 36 federal agencies, who gather information from 66 regional joint task forces.
"[Stanley's] appointment speaks volumes about the superior level of professionalism, education and training NS police exercise in their jobs every day," said NS Police Director Steve Hanes in a prepared statement.
